You know what’s more fun than annual planning? Vacation planning! As with anything in life, it is easy to fall into a rut. We often think of these ruts forming in our day-to-day as we fall into routine. Taking the kids to school, heading to work every day, and keeping up with the demands of life. Don’t let yourself fall into vacation rut. Silverhawk is here for all your travel needs, including destination suggestions.

Skiing – Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

Falling into the ski rut for us Midwesterners typically means being pulled in by the convenient allure of Colorado. If you are wanting a luxury ski opportunity, look a little further than our next door neighbor, and up the map to Canada. Located two hours north of Vancouver on Canada’s west coast, Whistler is North Americas largest ski resort. The small mountain lacks none of the luxuries of the big city. World class skiing, craft breweries, and the indulgent Scandavine Spa.

Tropical Adventure – Everglades, Florida

It may be time to skip a trip to the Caribbean (at least for now). Its only $80 for a US national park annual pass. A small price to pay for endless possibilities of outdoor adventure. The Everglades offers airboat rides through tropical wetlands or biking alongside Shark Valley Alligators. The adventurer inside you is calling, allow Silverhawk to help you answer.

Culture – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia is the Nation’s First World Heritage City. Pull the kids out school for a long weekend, and chalk it up to education. The One Liberty Observation Deck for a view of the City of Brotherly Love, the 200+ year old African American Episcopal Church, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Barnes Foundation. Not to mention, Philly has been named the best North American City for Live Music.

Natural Beauty – Juneau, Alaska

So, you may actually want to save this one for the summer months but it never hurts to have something planned to look forward to. Alaska is becoming increasingly more accessible to non-cruisers as they work on their roadways, which appeals to those not wanting to be confined to the timeline of a cruise and explore on their own. Ziplining, whale watching, or helicopter aerial tours to take in the natural beauty of the largest state in the union.

Relaxation – Montauk, New York

The beaches, wine, golf, diving, museums, and shopping make Montauk a popular New York Destination. Add in visits to Second House Historical Cottage and a 1797 light house to add of touch of history to your trip. Top it off with seal watching on the shores of Montauk Point State Park (with the state park pass you scored for $80) for a satisfaction guaranteed unexpected getaway.
